A Message from Kong

Dear Animal Lovers,

My name is Kong, I reside in Siem Reap, Cambodia along with my husband Sokha. We run a small restaurant in our town, which we depend on to finance the welfare of the animals. However, since the Covid pandemic we have not recovered and we struggle every month to finance the food, medication/treatment, along with the vet bills.

At present we feed in 4 Temples for approximatley 61 dogs and 55 cats, we feed twice a day, we also daily medicate any stray in need of medication. Due to the high number of daily abandon animals in the local Buddhist Temples, our numbers of strays requiring feeding and medicating have dramaticaly increased.
Quite often, we have litters of young kittens and puppies bearly a few weeks old taken from their Mums and then abandoned. These young ones are often brought to the shelter as they will require a great amount of time and care. At present, we are financing the feeding programs and the special food diets required, along with vaccinations, vitamins, medication and treatment for skin diseases, TVT cancer, tick fever, flea and worming protection.
We strongly agree with sterilisation and the importance of cutting down the population of unwanted animals. Therefore, we aim to sterilize all the strays in the temples and any new arrivals. However this is a slow process due to a lack of funds, causing more unwanted strays.

At the restaurant, I have 8 dogs, of which one is permantly disabled and 11 cats of which 3 are ungoing treatment.
Myself and my husband have been dedicated to caring for the strays in and around our local area for over 10 years.
We are local animal rescuers, providing animal shelter, food, medical care, sterilisation and hopefull adoption homes for all the strays.
Due to our reputation of animal care, we often recieve calls by the local people and the Monks from the Temples when an emergancy situations occurs. We also assist locals on a low income with animals that are in need of attention and medical care.

We make daily efforts to post the stories of the animals on Social Media to raise donations, however we respectivly only have a small number of donators. Therefore, we are left with the pressure of another finacial bill needing payment.

We also operate an Animal shelter (Voice of Stray Animals), where we have permently housed 7 dogs and 26 cats, still counting. All these animals have been rescued from terrible abusive situations.
At times, we accommodate animals that have had medical treatment and are in need of after care.
Our animals at the shelter are also feed twice a day, we provide any medical needs they require, along with giving updated vaccinations when due.

Unfortunatley, due to a lack of finacial help, we cannot always provide shelter for all the animals in need. Some may be fortunate enough to be adopted, others have a life time of misery and neglect.

Our aim is to try and provided all strays with their basic needs, without our help these strays would suffer from starvation, malnutrition and health issues.

We would be grateful for any help with funding or donating towards the continuation of our work with the animals
