The story of Voice of Stray animals - Siem Reap
Voice of Stray Animals is a grassroots animal welfare initiative based in Siem Reap, Cambodia, run by Kong and her family.
For over 10 years, Kong and her husband, Sokha, have cared for stray dogs and cats through daily feeding at local pagodas, emergency rescue, and ongoing medical treatment. Many animals are abandoned at Buddhist temples, where resources are limited, and Kong and her family step in to provide food, medication, and compassionate care.
Alongside their community work, they care for rescued animals at their home and operate a small shelter, providing recovery and long-term care for animals rescued from neglect and abuse. When possible, they also help find safe, loving homes for puppies and kittens.
With no official funding, the work continues through small donations, community support, and the family’s own efforts all guided by lived experience and a deep commitment to animal welfare.
